June 18, 2020— In an effort to create meaningful discussions on issues related to the injustices that Black communities face, the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Institute for Leadership, Justice, and Equity will sponsor two panel discussions that address and delve into racism, Whiteness, and privilege in the current socio-political climate. Moderated by Visiting Scholar, Tammy Smithers, this discussion will examine the impact of marginalization and criminalization of Black bodies and highlight the role of implicit bias and White fragility in systematically upholding policies that disproportionately have an impact on African Americans.
