Quintana Clark

Quintana “Quincy” Clark earned her Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences Communication & Education with a Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning Engineering from Purdue University, a Master of Science in Educational Technology from Purdue University, and a Bachelor of Science in Management of Information Systems from the University of San Francisco. Quincy's research lab (RAD4STEM.com) focuses on the challenges of retention, attraction, and diversity (RAD) in STEM education, including the agricultural sciences. The lab operates on three foundational pillars: personalization of STEM education, socially responsive STEM Education, and mentorship in STEM education. Some of Quincy’s research projects include the following six thrusts: A personalized AI-based tutoring tool for STEM majors that identifies and addresses challenges of solving word problems; a National Science Foundation Small Business Innovative Research funded initiative; a virtual lab for elementary students that introduces students to the wonders of STEM; an AI-inclusive online notebook platform that supports diverse learning methods; an exploration of first-year engineering students' experiences and perceptions of problem-solving and persistence in engineering; an examination of behaviors and attitudes toward household food waste management, a Foundation for Food & Agriculture funded initiative; and a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agriculture and Food Research for Sustainable Agricultural Systems funded initiative to work with Pacific Northwest Native American Tribes on the design and development of STEM education related to the development of a sustainable hemp-based economy. Quincy’s lab demonstrates that commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is foundational, weaving these principles into every aspect of RAD4STEM lab’s work to ensure STEM education is accessible, relevant, and enriching for all.
