The Proctor Writing & Relaxation Retreat, co-sponsored by Princeton University Press, will have expert writing facilitators and writing and life coaches on hand, and will guide participants through tailored workshops on book writing, writing for public consumption, and creative writing. This three-day retreat offers a space for exploration and growth for emerging and seasoned writers alike.

“We are incredibly grateful to be a part of this innovative retreat that purposefully and thoughtfully centers the optimal conditions for writing—a community of wellness and belonging,” mentioned Christie Henry, Director of Princeton University Press. “We are keen to learn from our conversations and collaborations with such an inspiring cohort.”

“As a 2024 Writing Retreat fellow, I loved being in community with so many talented people as we shared our dreams and visions for writing projects,” said Christian Bracho, Associate Professor at California State University Long Beach. “In our time together, we learned to embrace our identities as writers, and explored how our creative abilities can be channeled into our work.”

The retreat will feature mediation, community engagement and networking, and a positive environment to guide writers to new ideas and escape the hustle of everyday life. “This opportunity is meant for those who want to improve their writing skills, learn from writing and publishing professionals, and nourish their body and mind,” shared Marybeth Gasman, Samuel DeWitt Proctor Endowed Chair and Distinguished Professor at Rutgers University. “That’s why we created the retreat.”
