Lisa M. Rubin

Lisa M. Rubin is an Associate Professor in the College of Education at Kansas State University. She supports master's programs in Academic Advising and College Student Development, and doctoral programs in Leadership in Academic Advising and Student Affairs in Higher Education. At Kansas State, she serves as chair of the Institutional Review Board/Committee on Research Involving Human Subjects and on the Faculty Senate. For the profession, she serves as co-editor of the NACADA Journal (published by NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising) and on the editorial boards of the Journal of Amateur Sport, Journal of Athlete Development and Experience, Journal of Higher Education Athletics & Innovation, Journal of Intercollegiate Sport, Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics, and Journal of Student-Athlete Educational Development & Success. Lisa was designated as a Research Fellow by the College Sport Research Institute in March 2024. In 2023, she was selected by the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) as an ASHE-Ascendium Fellow. She is a recipient of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) 2020 Research Award, 2019 Professional Excellence Award, and 2009 Professional Promise Award. She received both the Big 12 Faculty Fellowship and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Innovations in Research and Practice Grant in 2018. Lisa was named one of the Top 25 Woman Leaders in Higher Education and Beyond by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education in 2017. In her free time, she plays in the Kansas State Flute Ensemble, teaches fitness classes, and cooks gourmet food in her kitchen.
