Rutgers University’s Center for Minority Serving Institutions and the Samuel Dewitt Proctor Institute for Leadership,  Equity, and Justice in which it is housed are pleased to announce that they will be collaborating with the U.S. Department of State and its Fulbright Program to amplify and extend the Fulbright Program’s focus on diversity and inclusion.

In 2021, the 75th anniversary of the Fulbright Program, the Center and the Institute will feature a weekly “focus on Fulbright” section on its various social media platforms.  Fulbright items, which will appear each Friday, will feature diversity and inclusion-related Fulbright activities, opportunities, resources, and alumni.

The Fulbright Program - our government’s flagship international exchange program - was launched in 1946, in the aftermath of WWII, to foster mutual understanding between U.S. citizens and citizens from other countries.

Since the Program’s inception 75 years ago, more than 400,000 people from the United States and 160 countries around the world have served as Fulbrighters abroad, building connections, promoting collaboration, and working to help peoples and nations work together to find common solutions to complex global concerns.

The Fulbright Program strives to reflect the diversity of U.S. society and of societies abroad by providing talented and accomplished students, scholars, artists, teachers, and professionals of all backgrounds with opportunities to enhance their lives and careers, both professionally and personally, as Fulbright participants and as alumni.
