Andrés Castro Samayoa is Assistant Professor of Higher Education at Boston College's Lynch School of Education. He currently serves as Director for Assessment and Strategy (by courtesy) at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Institute for Leadership, Equity, and Justice and the Rutgers Center for Minority Serving Institutions. Andrés serves as Co-PI in two grants focused on diversifying the teaching profession at both the K-12 and postsecondary level. One of these projects, HSI Pathways to the Professoriate (2016-2020), explores the role of Hispanic Serving Institutions in diversifying faculty in the humanities and social sciences. More broadly, his research centers Minority Serving Institutions as a cluster of organizations from which we can learn how to better enhance experiences for students of color from under-resourced communities.
He also focuses on the social history of large-scale datasets in postsecondary education; qualitative investigations on educational researchers' use of quantitative data to explore issues of diversity; and the institutionalization of services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, and transgender students. Andrés holds an M.Phil. from Cambridge University (UK) and a B.A. from Harvard College.
